Our Story
In 2023, a team of White Lake Area community members with diverse professional backgrounds developed a plan to create a center for community connection. Philanthropist and visionary, Molly Gillhespy, recruited a group to help her realize her dream. This group includes mental health professionals, business owners, community leaders, educators, an organic farmer, and yoga and physical therapy instructors.
Mission Statement: The mission of The Tapestry is to provide an inclusive and accessible environment that supports the mental, emotional and physical health for the community.
The Tapestry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to address critical gaps in mental health services, wellness programming, and community connection in the White Lake region of Michigan. Led by a volunteer board and supported by licensed mental health professionals, educators, and community partners, The Tapestry offers affordable counseling services, therapist-led programs, educational opportunities, and restorative indoor and outdoor spaces rooted in nature.
The Future
We’ve enlisted the expertise of some our most talented, creative and passionate community members. At The Tapestry you’ll find a variety of certified therapists, movement instructors, highly qualified mentors, body works, an enthusiastic board of directors, and many selfless committee members and volunteers. Without each piece of the team, we couldn’t do what we do.
As our services begin with therapy in early 2026, we look forward to expanding services like day camps, movement classes, and Summer Camp 2026!
With the help of our board and community members, our goal is to build a center for our entire community to utilize. Our hope for this center is to provide space for therapy, outdoor trails, gardening, and spaces for movement classes.
